Steam and water analysis systems (SWAS)
Demineralized water quality used in power plants depends on a series of parameters.
Sodium and silicate (SiO44-) indicate the ionic resin exchange in the water feeding treatment system.
Conductivity value is an ion concentration in water indicator. If it is too high this can cause the accumulation of deposits in the systems.
If the pH value is too low or the oxygen value too high, risk of corrosion might be present.
When measuring dissolved oxygen, it is also possible to determine if negative pressure is causing air leaks in the condenser to verify if degasification is a circuit.
Presence of metals such as iron and copper in the steam/water cycle indicates corrosion in the heat exchanger.
